Psalm 24:1 (NIV)
“The earth is the Lord ʼs, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it;”
Everyday men are struggling to own and possess property and wealth but the question is, "Is anything really ours?" Children learn the word “mine” early on in life, and it quickly becomes a favorite. “That toy is mine…That cookie is mine…That puppy is mine.” But in reality they have no control over them. Their parents give them everything as they have need but when they see it improper to give a child something they will withdraw it not because they don't have it but because they wish the best for their child. Likewise We also come into this world declaring certain things are ours, believing we have ownership of them and control over them forgetting that there is the rightful owner of everything.
Many people after accumulating a lot of wealth and property, get to think that they are in control. They get so blinded and forget that soon they will leave everything to go and face a life if eternity. A life of eternity can only be determined while one still has breath on this earth. God has authored our days. He knows how many of them we will have. He knows what’s in store. True freedom comes when we rest in God. When we believe in this, we can loosen our grip on our lives and on our things. Every good thing is going to come our way as God promised to us but when they do, let's not forget honouring him and keeping in him.
What can you loosen your grip on today that you’ve been holding onto? Can you entrust it to the God who made you and has authored your days? Surrender to him what is already his. It's all God's. (Extract from Chris Tomlin Gospel Artist)
