Acts 11:26 (NIV)
“and when he found him, he brought him to Antioch. So for a whole year Barnabas and Saul met with the church and taught great numbers of people. The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch.”
Today Let's learn about the word Christian. When you look in the bible as the scripture says above, this word was first used in Antioch in the early church. There was something special about the church in Antioch. The people were taught so much about Christ that they abounded in knowledge and experienced God in a mighty way. Due to these experiences, they were branded a name Christians meaning Christ followers.
But today the word Christian has been so much diluted that you won't tell a difference between a Christ follower and an earthly follower. The church has been broken so much into sects that the main essence of Christianity no longer holds the value it had when the word Christian was first used. The main subject of the gospel and Christianity is Christ Himself and if we truly call ourselves Christians, then we must live and act its life. In fact the early church didn't have to introduce themselves as Christians. Their life was so visible that the people around them had no option but to give them that name.
Today I challenge us to search our lives and check if we are really in line with the brand "Christian"
God bless your day
