1 Thessalonians 5:23 (ERV) “We pray that God himself, the God of peace, will make you pure—belonging only to him. We pray that your whole self—spirit, soul, and body—will be kept safe and be blameless when our Lord Jesus Christ comes.” There are three things that make up a man: body, spirit and soul. Out of them, the two, body and spirit are at extremes responding to different environments. Galatians 5:17 tells us that the body and Spirit are in constant conflict with one another. The soul responds to any of them depending on whom is stronger. Let’s try to understand what each of them means. The body is that part of you that interacts with the world by feeling as a result of touch, hearing, seeing, smelling and tasting. The soul is that part that interacts with self and has the ability to make choice by reason of emotion, reasoning and logic. And the spirit is that part of you that responds to the divine. The spirit responds to this divine environment by reason of belief and faith. These are three complex components of man that determine how a man reacts to situations as they arise. In the next Breads (Daily devotions), we shall see how the gospel intends to make these three come into agreement in the direction of God. *Further* *study* 1 Corinthians 15:45-58
