Who wrote the Bible? (Part 1)
Numbers 33:2 (ERV) “Following the Lord ’S command, Moses kept a record of each place they stayed before moving on to the next place. These are all the places they went:” In answering the question “who wrote the Bible?”, let’s begin with the five foundational books of the Old Testament (OT). These first five books of the OT are known as the Pentateuch. They include Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy. The scripture above gives us a hint on who wrote it and that’s none other than Moses. However, what is important to note is that Moses didn’t write the books by his own wisdom. He followed the Lord’s command to write every event that he witnessed. Of course someone will ask, how come Moses wrote about Genesis which happened much earlier before he was born. The answer is simple, God revealed everything to Moses. In Numbers 12:8, God Himself testifies of Moses when He said that with Moses, He speaks face to face. If you read the scriptures carefully, you will realise that on many occasions, Moses was called up to the mountain to speak with God, sometimes this took many days even forty days for that matter. What do you think Moses was doing in those forty days? Just sleeping? Of course Not! This guy was receiving lectures and instructions from God Himself. He learnt so much of God and the beginning of creation that he was able to write Genesis as well. In John 5:46-47, Jesus Himself testifies of the writings of Moses. He said, “For if you believed Moses, you would believe me; for he wrote of me. But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe my words?"” Jesus makes a very fundamental point here. He says that if we are to believe in His words, we have to first believe in the writings of Moses for they are all about him. In the next daily, we shall explore more on ‘who wrote the Bible’. *Further* *Study* Deuteronomy 31:24-26
