Psalm 23:5 (ESV) “You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.” This was a song written by King David. There was something very unusual about this king, no-wonder God called him a man after His own heart. David had very many enemies but never did he ever fight them on his own, he always trusted God to deal them for him. For-example, king Saul was very jealous of David that he decided to pursue him with the best of his 3000 soldiers (1 Samuel 24:1-22). The Bible tells us that in the process of looking for David, king Saul fell in the hands of David, but David refused to kill Saul by himself because he is a king anointed by God. That was the distinctive mark that defined who David was. In the end, king Saul, an enemy of David decided to bless him and acknowledge his kingship. The life of king David teaches us very important lessons. One, don’t fight your enemies, let God do the fighting for you. Two, your enemy may become vulnerable in your hands, don’t hesitate to show mercy to them. That’s what Jesus meant when He said repay good for evil. I assure you when you do that, God will prepare a table for you before your enemies where your enemy has no choice but to bless you. Always sow a seed of goodness. God bless you.
