You are the children of God

Deuteronomy 14:1 (ERV) ““You are the children of the Lord your God. When someone dies, you must not cut yourselves or shave your heads to show your sadness.” In pagan nations (even today), there are practices carried out to honour the dead. For example here in India, the Hindu people get a clean shave of their hair to show sorrow and sadness for their dead ones. These are practices that the Lord detested and still detests even today. In Luke 9:59-60, Jesus told a certain man to follow Him, but the man asked Jesus to allow him bury his father first, in response Jesus told him to let the dead bury the dead and urged him to go and preach the kingdom of God. Meaning, as person that has believed and known God, our attention should not be on the dead but on the living souls whose lives should be saved so that when death comes, we celebrate those people instead of feeling sad and sorrowful for losing them. Brothers and sisters, God has separated us from the rest of the world to become holy in his presence. We should not again indulge in practices that diminish the value of God in our lives just like a dog returning to its vomit. You and I are called to help others see the right way by preaching the good news of the kingdom of God. Let’s not be selfish with the God we have but let’s all share him to others for every opportunity He gives us. We know the scriptures and so the scriptures should guide us in our sharing. By the way don’t mind whether the person you will share the gospel with, will believe you or not. Just do your part and leave the rest to God. God be with you and guide you in each and every moment you attempt to teach the good news to the lost souls.
