Jesus our true liberator
Deuteronomy 17:5 (GNT) “then take them outside the town and stone them to death.” In the levitical times, whenever someone did something contrary to the law especially idol worship, that person was prone to being stoned to death on the evidence of at least two witnesses. In our generation, I am convinced that you and I would be stoned everyday for the many levitical laws we break, but thanks be to our Lord Jesus who bore the pain of our sin when he was crucified outside the gate in place of you and I whom would have been stoned outside this same gate. In John 8:1-10, a story is told of an adulterous woman whom the Pharisees wanted to stone to death before Jesus. But Jesus commanded whoever had no sin to be the first to cast a stone at her, and eventually no one dared cast a stone. The crowd soon disappeared and left Jesus and the woman a lone. Brethren God is against sin and is mad when people do sin. We were sinners deserving Death, but the graciousness of Jesus took up all that sin upon himself on the cross and today we are free from the guilt of sin. Because our sins have been forgiven, Jesus expects us to sin no more (John 8:10) but go through a transition process through the transformative power of the Holy Spirit. You might feel guilty for what you’ve done, but God wants to change that today and transition you into a person that will always bring glory to Him. Just trust His power today.
